Multimodal Communication in Face-to-Face Computer-Mediated Conversations
Multimodal communication involves multiple communicative channels including speech, facial movement, and gesture. Relatively few studies on how various communicative modalities are aligned in natural, face-to-face communication exist. متن کاملIntonation as a cue to turn management in telephone and face-to-face interactions
Melodic properties of turn boundaries in face-to-face and nonface-to-face interactions are analyzed from a production and a perception viewpoint. Results show that although listeners seem to be able to predict turn management in telephone speech when some conditions are met, melodic information by itself is for the most part insufficient to indicate turn transition to conversationalists.

متن کاملImplicit Referring as an Indication of Familiarity in Face-to-Face and Phone Conversations
A large body of research shows that familiarity between speakers makes their use of referring expressions more effective. This paper presents two studies that suggest that it’s also the other way around, i.e. effective referring, in this case implicit referring, suggests a relation between the speakers. Further, a third study, based on naturalistic observations of both work and private conversa...
